Carlo Zauli 1926 – 2026. Tra Faenza e Milano
The exhibition analyses the creative evolution of the sculptor, ceramicist, and designer, moving from his engagement with the neo-avant-garde to his artistic maturity. Central to this journey is the “Zauli white”, a distinctive and autonomous stylistic signature. The display follows an intimate, workshop-like rhythm within the former Ceramics School founded by Marieda Di Stefano.
Key milestones include Zauli’s participation in the 1957 Milan Triennale and his solo exhibition at the Galleria Montenapoleone, a period when Milan was a fertile ground for artists such as Yves Klein, Alberto Burri, and Lucio Fontana. The exhibition reinterprets traditional Faentine ceramic solutions, such as Renaissance white and blue monochromes, updated through contemporary Milanese artistic influences. The itinerary features early traditional vases alongside later “distorted” forms, “stelae”, and “clods”. On the second floor, the sculpture “Vaso sconvolto” is placed in dialogue with works by Lucio Fontana.
