Damián Ortega Retrospective

This retrospective is the first exhibition in Italy devoted to one of the most interesting and ironic artists on the contemporary scene, Damián Ortega (b.1967, Mexico City). His work has revolutionised the very concept of sculpture, using common objects and undermining their meaning. Using a number of different media, he often undermines the meaning and function of objects, revealing their implicit and symbolic aspects. At the same time, he also investigates the essential forms of sculpture, overturning the classic conception of it as something solid, monolithic and finished.

The exhibition offers a sweeping overview of his highly diversified artistic production and the show will be given a unique touch by the interaction between his works and the spaces of HangarBicocca.
