Design Nomade

Via Bergognone 34, Milan, Italy

In event of the Tortona Design Week 2017, the exhibition is presenting 24 Italian and International designers – a show curated by Base Milano in support with Stefano Mirti.

The show resulted from an open call, which has resulted in the ability to display different latitudes of designers trying to respond to the new needs of contemporary living within their country and culture. Therefore, the project are all different from each other, but speak the same language.

What all the artists have in common is their confrontation with changing the design of objects, interiors and public spaces in the era of mobile technology and neo-nomadism. A lot of their works deal with the way technology has changed the way of working – remotely, as a freelancer or having to frequently travel for work. Further, their designs deal with topics such as cloud computing or co-working, and how specific forms, materials, interfaces, and usages of design can be leveraged from or incorporate in this changed way of working.

From a portable house by Elena Bompani, to nomadic cuisine by Hon Bodin, the Japanese kit by Gerardo Osio, the house on water by Daniel Durnin, and the exhibition by HOMI SMART – the format of the exhibition is aiming at creating a crossover between design and new technologies, provides a bridge between the analog and digital.

The exhibition can be visited during the Design Week from Tuesday to Sunday, 9am-7pm.
