Dimensione Domestica atto II
An original position, inside the long history of interior design, is represented by the work of Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, two extraordinary designers known for their production of household articles. The domestic topic, combined with the acrobatic exhibitions, best represents the impressive impact of their designs. However, there were some moments in which their creativity and their curiosity moved towards rather original interior design projects, different from the architectural culture of the reference historical period.
The exhibition “La casa abitata” (The inhabited house) is the second installation within the three-year exhibition program “Dimensione Domestica” (Domestic Dimension). The philological reconstruction of the exhibition first shown in 1965 at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, which is presenting the “Ambiente per il pranzo” (The dining room space), is being rebuilt with the original objects at the Fondazione in Milan. This will allow visitors to relive what was originally designed by the Castiglioni artists.
