Elena El Asmar: Le Fantasmagoriche
“Le Fantasmagoriche”, a solo exhibition by Elena El Asmar, curated by Marina Dacci, brings together over forty works, including sculptures and wall pieces on glass, wood and paper, produced between 2008 and 2026, conceived as a unified intervention for the third-floor spaces. The exhibition unfolds as an immersive ensemble in which sculpture and two-dimensional works enter into dialogue.
El Asmar’s practice explores the relationship between space, memory and imagination, translating memory into visual and narrative structures. Working across drawing, painting, installation and text, her research develops through processes of stratification and transformation, shaped by tensions between geographies and belonging, where matter and light become means of observing and traversing time. Landscape emerges as a central element, understood as both physical and interior space.
The exhibition includes watercolours depicting various locations, as well as “L’esercizio del lontano” (2010/2026), a series of sculptures composed of assembled glass covered with perforated fabrics, evoking openings towards an external dimension. This dialogue continues in “Studio Portraits” (2024–2025) and “Siparietto” (2026), where geometric forms suggest distant, archetypal spaces. The installation follows a rhythmic arrangement, recalling a musical score. In addition, “Le ore terse” (2008), a drawing engraved on glass, activates perception through movement and light.
