Elisa Seitzinger: Minor Arcana
The independent exhibition space presents in a solo show, the Italian artist’s medieval, mysterious, martyr drawings.
Working in Turin, the artist’s works deal with social classes and developments of society. She uses different symbols, signs, imagery and impersonations to depict the different levels of a social class – peasants, bourgeoisie, clergy, military – all of which embody negative stereotypes of the contemporary society.
The structure of her drawings results form a deck of caro cards, which she as well uses as a narrative function. Implementing the technique of Russian philosopher Vladimir Propp – who broke up fairy tales into several sections, starting with an initial situation, after which the tale usually takes following 31 functions – Seitzinger gives each of her figure a specific function or section in society.
The independent art space Le Dictateur organized this group show in collaboration with the FuturDome project Outer Space during the month of April in Milan. Located in via Giovanni Paisiello 6, FuturDome presents various artistic projects in collaboration with different independent art spaces.
