Elisabetta di Maggio: Punto Improprio
In this second solo exhibition at Galleria Stein, Elisabetta Di Maggio creates a landscape inspired by the natural world. While drawing from organic reality, she transforms it into patterns, possible cosmogonies, or structures resembling microorganisms and fractal formations.
Her new works result from meticulous carving and precision, brought to life in glass mosaics and wax micromosaics—fragile yet luminous materials reassembled into a new visual geography. “A fully recreated, handcrafted nature, shaped by time, image manipulation, and existing knowledge—reworked and transformed to form a unique and distinct world, increasingly positioned in contrast to artificially reconstructed landscapes.”
Maps, structures, and circuits emerge, leading nowhere and depicting no specific organic or geographical condition. Instead, they reflect the intricate networks into which we are born and within which we navigate our lives.
