Ettore Sottsass: Architectures Landscapes Ruins

Triennale di Milano, Viale Emilio Alemagna, 6, 20121 Milan, Italy

This latest chapter in the exhibition series dedicated to Ettore Sottsass explores architecture through drawing. It brings together the architect and designer’s sketches and drawings relating to architecture, landscapes, and ruins, forming a large-scale visual narrative.

To bring visitors closer to Sottsass’s architectural thinking, the exhibition focuses on drawings from his post-Memphis period alongside his 1992 text “”Ruins””. Excerpts from this text accompany enlarged drawings on the walls, along with other reflections that highlight his desire to prioritise “the part you inhabit over the part you see” in design.

The exhibition takes place in Sala Sottsass, which has housed the permanent installation of Casa Lana since January 2021. This faithfully reconstructed interior of a private Milanese residence, designed in the mid-1960s, is open to the public thanks to a donation from Barbara Radice Sottsass.
