Francesca Leone: Our Trash
From the observation of reality, from attention to one’s surroundings, between reflection and exposure La Triennale di Milano hosts a personal show by Francesca Leone: Our Trash. The project, shown here for the first time, presents the latest series of works by the Roman artist, the result of a profound research on the themes of environment and the ecosystem.
19 aluminum gratings form a single installation, a large platform on which the viewer can walk and observe, building a true interaction with the artwork. The work has been produced with the unwitting contribution of hundreds of people that have littered the streets with trash and objects; the gratings spew out the evidence of their passage: cigarette butts, plastic, pebbles, paper, keys, trash and coins are the elements of daily stories and a suspended time.
Our Trash proposes a reflection on mankind’s indiscriminate action against the environment, it takes part in the, always current, debate on the pressing necessity to safeguard the planet and expresses, through the artist’s intervention, an aesthetic character.
The project has been made possible by the support of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Europe and laFondazioneNY.
