Franco Mazzucchelli: Riappropriazione
Converso presents the Milanese based artist, who was a former professor of Techniques of Sculpture at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. Since the 1970s, he is known for his environmental installations for which he uses familiar spaces to create works or rooms, which initiate a new view on the common, and allows oneself to exit one’s daily routine.
He calls his works either Riappropriazioni (re-appropriations), referring to outdoor installations, or Sostituzioni (substitutions) for works mounted indoor. Although the exhibition’s title falsely relates to an outdoor installation, the work exhibited within the Converso spaces thereby in fact inaugurates a new public space – transforming the known into something new. The artist contributes to open a social platform which aims at facilitating the exchange of thoughts, ideas, art and creativity.
