Gianfranco Pardi: Autoarchitecture
Cortesi Gallery Milan in Corso di Porta Nuova dedicate a retrospective of Gianfranco Pardi’s work, 85 years after his birth, fully representative of the Milanese artist’s career path. The exhibition is in collaboration with Gianfranco Pardi Archive and Fondazione Farmafactoring and curated by Bruno Corà.
Pardi’s work focused on a study of space and the relationship between abstraction and construction. He was drawn to architecture as early as the 1960s as a means of creative process, interested in the constructive possibilities of form. Clearly influenced by Russian Suprematism, Constructivism and Dutch Neoplasticism, he borrowed elements from these movements and reinterpreted the likes of Malevic, Tatlin and El Lisitzky .
The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue edited by Skira and which has been co-published by Fondazione Marconi and the Cortesi Gallery.
