IDIORYTHMIA

In the Ground Hall of BASE, the French studio smarin, in collaboration with Institut français Milano, presents “IDIORYTHMIA – sistema costruttivo RE-U”. This polymorphous and reversible furniture system continuously reconfigures the space, transforming it from an agora or projection room into a workspace, convivial area, or performance stage. The installation functions as a social, technological, and biological system, altering its function and atmosphere according to the communities that use it.

The title “IDIORYTHMIA” derives from the Greek words idios (personal) and rhythmos (rhythm). The project explores the possibility of living and working together while maintaining individual rhythms, balancing autonomy with coexistence. This temporary and symbolic infrastructure places hospitality at its core.
