IN PRATICA: Luca De Leva, Horses and madonnas. Sentimentally inspired by Arnaldo Badodi

Collezione Giuseppe Iannaccone, C/o studio legale Giuseppe Iannaccone Corso Matteotti 11

On the occasion of the twenty-first edition of miart it opens the second round of the project IN PRATICA, a series of exhibitions curated by Rischa Paterlini hosted in the law firm Attorney Giuseppe Iannaccone, in the spaces where it is stored part of his collection of contemporary art.

After the first presentation of the artist Davide Monaldi, IN PRATICA continues in its intention to propose, through the series of small exhibitions, a continuous comparison between the works of artists already consecrated in the international scene at present Collection and those of emerging talented artists, although still unknown to the public, invited for the occasion to conceive site-specific projects. These will alternate thematic exhibitions on artists of the ’30s, to go as well to reiterate that constant dialogue between expressive forms and eras from the beginning that characterizes the collection.

Horses and madonnas. Sentimentally inspired by Arnaldo Badodi, is a solo exhibition by Luca De Leva (Milan , 1986) in which it is presented a corpus of thirteen works, including drawings , sculptures , and specially designed assemblies the occasion. The new works of De Leva born from almost ” Love ” of the young Milanese artist with several works of the painter Arnaldo Badodi present in Advocate Iannaccone Collection: The Cabinet, in 1938; Coffee, 1940; The Circus, 1941.

“I did not know Badodi before seeing him in the Advocate Collection – said Luca De Leva – and this has been the engine of the whole trigger. I approached his pictures spontaneously, ignoring all the critical apparatus and written information over time about him and his work. It was a pure visual experience, unconditioned, a source of inspiration for these new thirteen works”.

In the spaces of the law firm, including the works of the Collection Iannaccone reorganized for this event, are then located the new artworks by De Leva, in dialogue with the three paintings by Arnaldo Badodi by which the young artist was inspired, creating a play of assonance sensitivity and atmospheres.

“For the construction of each image – says De Leva – I used some tricks related to the interpretation, memory and imagination of each of us. I looked for them in me, and through the study of myself according to the nature of us all. The viewer is present in these works as much as I am. “
