Jacob Hashimoto: Never Comes Tomorrow

Studio la Città Temporary Space, Via Pestalozzi 4

Studio la Città, a gallery based in Verona, northern Italy, brings a solo show by Jacob Hashimoto in Milan in a temporary space.

The exhibition set up will challenge, once again, the artists interest in architecture, space, time, the astral dynamics of the planets and the constellations. The setting of the exhibition will showcase the obsessive interest of Hashimoto for architecture, space and time, the astral dynamics of the planets and the constellations. Proportions, relationships, surfaces will be closely correlated with the building that will house the large installation, thereby giving the dream of DOUBLETROUBLE95: welcome into their home the site-specific work of a great international artist.

Inspired by a previous installation of the 2012, “super-elastic collisions and distant derivations”, he reveals what the artist calls a “fetishized space object that, at least to me, talking about science fiction optimism, magic, idealization, and inaccuracy.” The installation of a black hole structure, watermarked with curved steel on the edge, reveals clear traces of the Arts and Crafts period, a collision between digital telescopic of the XXI century and the late nineteenth-century crafts .
The viewer is immediately transported into a universe of Verne flying machines, crystal and red planets domes. This use aesthetic of anachronism, which occurs in many previous works Hashimoto, highlights its cautious approach to the growing atmosphere of contemporary digitization, which sees the poetics of space replaced by space science.
