Jannis Kounnellis: Gli Anni Sessanta

ML Fine Art hosts an exhibition by Jannis Kounellis, curated by Francesco Guzzetti, that focuses on a moment that is as significant as it is still insufficiently explored in the artistic career of one of the most important exponents of Arte Povera.

Through a number of works of undoubted quality, the exhibition intends to recount that moment, between 1961 and 1963, when the artist moved on from the dazzling season of the so-called “Alphabets” – born out of a desire to overcome the informal art dominant in those years by relying on deliberately simple signs – towards a gradual recovery of more articulate forms of representation.

Through a selection of works rarely exhibited in the past and with the contribution of scientific research conducted by Francesco Guzzetti, the exhibition aims to reveal to the public a season in which the artist was able to confront and anticipate the trends then emerging in the new avant-garde, imprinting his own stylistic mark on an entire period of art history at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s.
