Joan Horrach: Distorted Scenarios No. 1

With “Waiting Room”, Joan Horrach reflects on the non-places of supermodernity theorised by Marc Augé—spaces of transit and suspension that shape everyday experience. Through video, collective performative activations and a scenographic installation, the work examines the paradox of being alone together, treating waiting as both emotional and political material. The videos, displayed on monitors positioned on all four sides of the space, evoke the setting of a waiting room and follow a task-based performative structure. They focus on the effects of waiting, time and repetition on the body, highlighting processes of endurance, stillness and transformation.
