La Sensualità della Piega. Cinquant’anni di Umberto Mariani

The anthological exhibition is dedicated to the fifty-year career of Umberto Mariani, celebrating three topical moments of his professional path, through the spaces both of the gallery Progettoarte – Elm and of Miart fair, in Milan.

“La Sensualità della Piega. Cinquant’anni di Umberto Mariani” (“Abstract Art in Italy. Umberto Mariani”) includes more than thirty works. The path highlights Mariani’s pop phase, from the second half of the 60s till the year 1974; the body of works titled “Alfabeto afono”, from the 1975 till the end of the decade, and the last period, marked by the “wrinkle” as main formal element of his pieces. The latter, realised in canvas or lead, constituted a constant characteristic of Mariani’s vision and poetic throughout his career.
