Maria Kreyn: Continuum
The first solo exhibition in Milan by the American artist Maria Kreyn is presented in dialogue with a work by the English Romantic painter Joseph Mallord William Turner. The exhibition centres on Kreyn’s seascape paintings, which draw on a wide range of references spanning art history and contemporary culture, reinterpreted through a personal and immediately recognisable painterly language characterised by expressive, tempestuous vistas that combine figurative landscapes with geometric abstraction. On this occasion, these works are shown alongside a 19th-century masterpiece by J.M.W. Turner — a watercolour depicting the Splügen Pass — establishing a visual and conceptual dialogue between two sensibilities separated by time, yet strikingly aligned.
