Mathilde Rosier: Figures of Climax of the Impersonal Empire

Fondazione Guido Lodovico Luzzatto, Via Antonio Canova, 7, 20145 Milano MI

Fondazione Guido Lodovico Luzzatto and Galleria Raffaella Cortese are pleased to present the exhibition project by Mathilde Rosier, together with her participation in the Metamorfosi exhibition at Castello di Rivoli and her third solo exhibition at Galleria Raffaella Cortese.

The headquarters of the foundation, former home of the scholar and art historian Guido Lodovico Luzzatto, will host in it spaces a series of works by the French artist which reinterpret a journey by incorporating the memory of the rooms, testimony of the human and professional trajectory of a intellectual  bourgeois family, during the interwar years.

Guido Lodovico Luzzato was a Jew, an antifascist socialist and since the 1920s’ was an art critic, disseminator of contemporary European figurative culture between Milan, the German-speaking countries and Paris, where he came into contact a group of Italians and painters of the École de Paris. During the years of Fascism he was forced to live elsewhere, like his brothers Dino and Lucio and his sister Gina, botanical naturalist, whose bedroom is put in dialogue by the artist with a revisitation of the Opera Chamber, 2009.

The intervention by the artist aims to create a suspension in space and time in which the viewer loses himself through a portal to another dimension.
