Mirella Bentivoglio: Creazione e Fine
“Creazione e fine” (End and Creation) gathers 15 works by the Austrian-born artist Mirella Bentivoglio, which span the most productive decades of her artistic career, namely the 70s and 80s.
Bentivoglio’s investigation focuses in particular on the visual side of language and speech: recognised as an important representative of visual poetry and key player for image and language artistic research, the artist was born in Austria from Italian parents. She begun working in journalism, thanks to her great attitude towards writing and communication, but soon she moved to explore the visual aspect of language, in particular the connections between images and words. Her works focus on wordplays, changes of meaning and shifting by fragmentation and decomposition of the parts of the speech, inspired by Bauhaus and Futurism practices.
