Olafur Eliasson: The Collectivity Project
The collectivity project provides a space for conversation and exchange among a wide variety of participants.
From April 14, to Friday, May 8, 2020, Fondazione Nicola Trussardi presents The collectivity project, a participatory installation by the Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson.
Placed in the center of the Ottagono of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, the project challenges the public to creatively rethink how they experience and imagine their environment. Using over one ton of white LEGO bricks, made available to all passersby on five large tables arranged in the public space, adults and children are invited to build and rebuild the structures of a city in constant formation.
Not limited to the confines of the museum and gallery, Eliasson’s art is driven by his interests in perception, movement, embodied experience, and feelings of self. He strives to make the concerns of art relevant to society at large. Both a gateway and a crossroads, the Ottagono is the grand entrance to the historic center of Milan, encountered by the thousands of people who pass through it every day.
