Olympia Scarry: White Noise
ICA Milan presents White Noise, a solo exhibition by Olympia Scarry.
Scarry’s sculptural works are placed in dialogue with the movie “Breaking Into Trunks” by the duo Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla and the sound composition “Avaeken” by Seattle musician Stephen O’Malley.
For this exhibition, the artist has produced a new body of sculptural works that capture the traces of time and sound imprinted in synthesised organic matter. Scarry’s works reverberate through materiality by deconstructing architectural forms and recontextualising them, pushing the material to transform into something else.
Scarry’s artworks are related to the video and performance practices of Allora & Calzadilla and Stephen O’Malley.
The artistic duo based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, presents the video “Breaking Into Trunks”, the installation reasoning about the internal orders of the universe creating order, beauty but also chaos and disorder.
In the upcoming months, Stephen O’Malley will present a musical composition performed by the ZWERM guitar ensemble entitled ‘Avaeken’.
