Painting is back. La pittura negli anni 80 in Italia

An overview of Italian painting during the 80s

Gallerie d’Italia, Piazza della Scala, 6, Milan, Italy

The exhibition investigates the complex scenario of Italian painting during the 1980s through emblematic artworks under the curatorship of Luca Massimo Barbero. The exhibition path of “Painting is back” highlights the transversal skills of those years’ artists that provocatively intended painting as the way to represent the world of images with new vitality, reaching international success. The exhibition departs from the end of the 1970s, with works by painters from the Transavantgarde movement, including Sandro Chia, Francesco Clemente, Enzo Cucchi, Nicola De Maria e Mimmo Paladino, to follow on with pieces by Gino De Dominicis, Luigi Ontani, Mario Merz, and many more.
