Romeo Castellucci: EL

“EL” is a mechanical device that invades the stage of the Triennale Milano theatre, completely occupying the visual space delimited by the stage arch.

Through a repeated and tireless motion, the installation produces a continuous alternation of light and darkness, noise and silence, presence and absence. An atmospheric dimension whose essential elements reveal themselves to the public as generators of emblems, images and sensations that cannot be preordained. The mechanical element of the installation – entirely produced by Triennale – is flanked and completed by a second signifier: music. An equal relationship, which transforms Scott Gibbons’ sound work into a figure in its own right.
