Sbandata [Crush]
Marcello Maloberti‘s fourth solo show at Galleria Raffaella Cortese takes over all the three spaces of the gallery, reconnecting them through visual and conceptual references. The exhibition, titled “Sbandata [Crush]“, alludes to an amorous crash in classical culture, and is the result of the dialogue between Maloberti and the curator Pierre Bal-Blanc, whose work methods mainly coincide. Bal-Blanc’s curatorial concept, in fact, consists of a reversed operation: he will write the curatorial text for the exhibition when it ends rather than at its beginning, as usual. Also Maloberti’s research is aimed to turn upside down time and logical connections, defying any traditional concept.
Maloberti presents for the occasion both previous works, such as his collages which function as notes on his ongoing practice, and a new installation, which reproduce a previous performance of his but in a new medium. Through the exhibition path, he creates a disorienting and at the same time sophisticated ambience, inspired by classical references. The artist seeks to emphasise the relationship between art and life, merging different media by original approaches and conveying its message through a condensed and theatrical narrative.
