Property of Sergio Asti. A Design Heritage
The retrospective traces the extensive and diverse design activity of Sergio Asti, an architect and designer who was a leading figure in the Milanese scene during the second half of the 20th century.
The exhibition features milestones of Italian design, such as the “Profiterolle” lamp for Martinelli (1968), the “Marco” vase for Salviati (winner of the Compasso d’Oro in 1962), and the “Trifoglio” table for Poltronova (1969). Sergio Asti’s portfolio spans from tableware and lighting to automotive design, household appliances, and architecture. His work is characterised by a methodical search for design and execution quality, independent of specific stylistic labels.
The title refers to an inscription, “Property of Sergio Asti”, found under a small table designed by him, representing a personal design philosophy that the gallery aims to highlight.
