The White Hunter. African Memories and representation
Curated by Marco Scontini, the group show consists of 120 works by 40 different artists, confronting traditional with contemporary African art. Thereby, the aim of the exhibition is to reconstruct history and memories, and to contrast the latter with current African contemporary reality.
The title of the exhibition is based on video works by the artists Yervant Gianikian and Angela Ricci Lucchi, who have been investigating colonial and migration history, and follow the social construction of a presumed supremacy of the “blanchité” during the time of capitalist modernism.
Alongside, FM Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea has organized a program of seminars, conferences and screenings, in collaboration with Fondazione lettera27, Biennale di Lubumbashi, and others.
