Torbjørn Rødland: The Touch That Made You

Fondazione Prada Osservatorio, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Milan, Italy

Fondazione Prada Osservatorio presents the exhibition The Touch That Made You, by the Norwegian artist Torbjørn Rødland, curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Amira Gad. Initiated and organised by the Serpentine Gallery in London, the project re-unites a selection of more that 40 photographic works and 3 videos created between 1999 and 2016.

The title of the show references the physical and immaterial nature of his imagery, he reconfigures and deconstructs the everyday through his staged analogue photography of mise-en-scènes, which ooze subliminal messages. He maintains a level of control over his subjects and objects, yet there lies a level of unpredictability and surprise as the final outcome is only visible once the images have been developed and printed onto photographic paper.

Torbjørn Rødland (1970, Norway) is a Los Angeles-based photographer, he creates portraits, still-life and landscapes, which simultaneously inhabit, de-familiarise and throw off balance the notion of the everyday.
