Wonders of the Modern World
Curators: Pier Paolo Tamburelli, Anna Livia Friel
Artists: Giovanna Silva, Giulio Squillacciotti, Nicola Ratti
“Wonders of the Modern World” is a project by Pier Paolo Tamburelli, featuring photographs and videos by Giovanna Silva and Giulio Squillacciotti, alongside a sound installation by Nicola Ratti. The exhibition explores eight contemporary architectural wonders—from the Great Mosque of Touba to the Sambódromo in Rio—through internally illuminated glass models, videos, and sounds that convey their monumental and ritualistic dimensions.
The project’s setup combines evocative imagery with detailed spatial analysis. The exhibition invites visitors to rediscover the symbolic power of architectures that fall outside modernist conventions yet remain deeply embedded within the global cultural fabric.
