X Triennale Design Museum: Giro Giro Tondo. Design for Children
The 10th edition of the Triennale Design Museum is devoted to the world of children, and to design and architecture that has been created for them.
Each year, the Triennale organizes exhibitions in order to stimulate a exchange about the topic “What is Italian design?”. This years exhibition consists of numerous shows.
The exhibitions dedicated to design for children displays games and images used by children to both amusement and information, the spaces where they took their first steps, and the objects they used to discover the world.
The visit is arranged in thematic sections, including “The History of Furnishing” curated by Paola Maino; “The history of toys” curated by Luca Fois; “the History of Urban Installations” presenting performance works and architectural designs, curated by Fulvio Irace; “The History of Graphic Design” displaying illustrations and pubblications, curated by Pietro Corraini; “The History of Animation” curated by Maurizio Nichetti; and “The History of Writing and Drawing Instruments” curated by Francesca Balena Arista.
Each section includes a focus on an important historical figures in design and education. These include “Bruno Munari” curated by Alberto Munari, and “Riccardo Dalisi” curated by Francesca Picchi.
Further, “The History of education” curated by Franca Zuccoli and Monica Guerra, and “The Imagery of Storytelling in Pinocchio” curated by Enrico Ercole are two addition exhibitions presented for X Triennale. The inauguration is dedicated to “Play Design” curated by Stefano Giovannoni.
