Curated by Dilda Ramazan and Aida Sulova, “You are here. Central Asia” features a dynamic constellation of artistic visions from the region.

Through various artistic languages, including painting, video, sculpture, photography, textiles, site-specific installations, and performance, the exhibition showcases the work and research of 27 contemporary artists born in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

The title and thematic framework of the exhibition are inspired by the commonly used phrase “You are here,” which serves as a navigational marker in various locations, streets, cities, or countries. Often accompanied by a graphical pointer indicating an exact position, it allows individuals to situate themselves within a physical space. Metaphorically, the exhibition “You are here. Central Asia” expresses self-awareness and recognition of presence across different planes of existence.

In today’s world, marked by constant migration, displacement, and the search for a place to call home, the concepts of identity and belonging hold significant importance, ensuring visibility and the right to establish one’s place.
