Zagreb Calling
The exhibition is dedicated to three of the main artists of the Sixties and Seventies, Ivan Picelj, Vjenceslav Richter and Julije Knifer, who have contributed to initiate a deep linguistic revolution at an international level. Coming all from Yugoslavia, they participated in the new-constructivist and conceptual movements, in particular they all transited through the International movement “nove tendencije” (New Tendencies), born in Zagreb in 1961 and founded precisely by Picelj.
“Zagreb Calling” features more than forty pieces between paintings, sculptures and graphic works selected from the Archives of the artists and from international collections with the aim to highlight the fundamental role of the three artists and the importance of the city of Milan as centre of exchanges between European and Balkan artists.
