Sergio Fermariello: (H)ear
The exhibition brings Formariello's works to the ancient cloister of Santa Caterina a Formiello
Artist Sergio Formariello presents his site-specific project “(H)ear” at Fondazione Made in Cloister, hosted inside an ancient cloister. The original project changed after the lockdown, now revolving around the topic of the hearing. The central area of the space is occupated by a square of brass golden ears that, at a closer look, reveal themselves to be ears in the sense of the anatomical organ. The artwork references Vincent Van Gogh’s personal history, playing on the semantic double sense.
The ear also addresses the act of hearing, as the pandemic has imposed new habits and way of thinking to art and its creation. On view on the cloister’s walls also thousands of small warriors, the mark of Sergio Formariello who experiments with visual writing and symbols. The exhibition is an invitation to carefully listen to the passing of time and changes, especially in the difficult period we are living.
