Ayoung Kim: Delivery Dancer Codex

MoMA PS1, 22-25 Jackson Ave, Long Island City

This autumn, MoMA PS1 presents a major exhibition by artist Ayoung Kim (Korean, b. 1979), featuring a suite of video installations across the museum’s third-floor galleries. On view from 6 November 2025 to 16 March 2026, “Ayoung Kim: Delivery Dancer Codex” marks the first time all three works from Kim’s celebrated trilogy are shown together.

Known for her pioneering use of generative AI, videogame engines, and live-action footage, Kim creates speculative narratives that intertwine geopolitics, mythology, and technology. The trilogy explores the evolving relationships between data, humanity, and the environment, tracing links between biopolitics, queerness, and xenophobia.

Set in a fictitious Seoul, “Delivery Dancer’s Sphere” (2022) follows female couriers En Storm and Ernst Mo through algorithmically generated urban routes. The sequel, “Delivery Dancer’s Arc: 0° Receiver” (2024), places them in a futuristic multiverse tasked with delivering time. The final chapter, “Delivery Dancer’s Arc: Inverse” (2024), unfolds in the alternate universe Novaria, where the protagonists transport lost artefacts, reflecting on temporalities erased by Western modernism. Together, the works question capitalist demands for productivity and the standardisation of time.
