Jen Liu, Joanna Piotrowska, Jesse Wine
The group exhibition gathers works by the three artists Jen Liu, Joanna Piotrowska and Jesse Wine, joint by their investigation of established political or biological systems to think about new forms of agency. Jen Liu’s paintings and video examine contemporary forms of “empowerment” that are invariably linked to structures of manipulation and economic control. The black and white silver gelatin photographs by Johanna Piotrowski capture physical actions as frozen in time. The individual appear disconnected from their surroundings, as a consequence to the greater feeling of anxiety and discontinuity plaguing current society. Finally, Jesse Wine’s latest ceramic sculptures deal with the various ways consumerism and societal pressure govern all aspects of life.
