Lucio Fontana: Spatial Environment (1968)

On view at El Museo del Barrio, the “Spatial Environment (1968)” by Lucio Fontana has been reconstructed with the authorization of the Fondazione named after the artist. The all-white and mazy installation is part of the “Spatial Environments” series conceived by the artist, founder of the Spatialist movement, to be fully experienced by viewers, who could enter and navigate them.

The piece, firstly on view at documenta 4 in Kassel, Germany shortly before Fontana’s death, has been faithfully rebuilt following the original indications of the artist. The exhibition runs in the same period as the exhibition at The Met Fifth Avenue and The Met Breuer “Lucio Fontana: On the Threshold“.
