Peter Campus: Video Ergo Sum
The Bronx Museum of the Arts host Peter Campus‘ solo exhibition: “Video Ergo Sum” collects recent works especially created for the occasion.
Considered a pioneer of video art, Campus has been creating complex video installations since the 70s, always dealing with the processes of perception and vision. His works require the interaction with viewers who activate them to fully function; they also transmit a sense of strangeness and mystery, leading to question their own image.
Campus’ recent works have become more intimate, characterised by an accurate manipulation of the image to the point of abstraction and by an extreme attention to light and to the connection with the represented sites, posing new challenges to viewers’ perception and interpretation.
A special screening of Peter Campus’ “Head of a Sad Young Woman”, 1976-77, will be on view throughout the month of March in Times Square as part of the Midnight Moment exhibition programme organised by the Times Square Alliance.
