Scenes from the Collection
The major exhibition reinterprets for the first time in 25 years The Jewish Museum‘s permanent collection, transforming the entire third floor of the building with nearly 600 works, from antiquities to contemporary art.
“Scenes from the Collection” collects together artworks and Jewish objects, some of which shown for the first time, spanning more than 4,000 years of Jewish history.
The exhibition is flexible, changing many times over the year, covering different topics and providing visitors with the unique chance to discover as much as possible of the entire collection of the museum, including new acquisitions. The pieces on view are divided into seven different sections or scenes, which highlight the diversity and depth of the collection. The unique mix of ceremonial objects and artworks provide a substantial overview of the multiple perspectives on being Jewish over time and how this culture intersects with art.
