Signals: If You Like I Shall Grow (part II)
The exhibition is the second chapter of a global project aimed to celebrate the pioneering art gallery Signals London (1964–66), which served as launch platform in London for several emerging Latin American and European artists, now celebrated worldwide. The space was originally conceived as The Centre for Advanced Creative Study by the artists David Medalla, Gustav Metzger, and Marcello Salvadori.
The exhibition is the American iteration of the show, already opened in London at Thomas Dane Gallery in June 2018, and brings together more than 80 works from public and private collections by a wide range of artists who exhibited at Signals; featuring new series of works not shown in London such as rarely-seen pieces, “Signals: If You Like I Shall Grow (part II)” focuses in particular on Latin American artists who grew in the context of Signals gallery to be included, later in their career, in major New York institutions’ art shows.
