20/21 Century Art – Day Sale
In October, as Paris hosts the third edition of the modern and contemporary art fair, Art Basel Paris, Christie’s will be holding a series of sales and events focused on modern and contemporary art, making it a key part of the week’s agenda.
Showcasing several hundred exceptional pieces, this sale celebrates the influential artists who have defined modern, post-war, and contemporary art. Following the “Avant-Garde(s) including Thinking Italian”, the “20/21 Century Art – Day Sale” will continue this celebration with an expanded and more accessible selection. The sale will pay homage to the Italian avant-garde, featuring artists such as Giuseppe Penone, Mario Merz, and Alighiero Boetti. Additionally, it will include works by Simon Hantaï, Kazuo Shiraga, Jean Dubuffet, and Alberto Giacometti. Broadening the historical scope, this sale will also conclude a year-long celebration of the 150th anniversary of Impressionism. It will present works by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, André Derain, Édouard Vuillard, and Félix Vallotton, alongside Moïse Kisling’s “Nu étendu sur un divan rouge”. Additionally, a bronze Tête by Joan Miró will be featured, highlighting the rich selection of sculpture throughout the week.
