25th Fondation Pernod Ricard Prize: All the Messages Are Emotional

The inspiration for the 25th Prix Fondation Pernod Ricard began with an emoji seen in the New York subway—a smiley with spiraled eyes and a downturned mouth, proclaiming “Emotional conflicts, last day here!”. This sparked questions about how studying emotional conflicts and affect can help us understand our world in crisis. Drawing on thinkers like Ann Cvetkovich, Sara Ahmed, and Lauren Berlant, the exhibition explores post-minimalist forms, feminist narratives, and the role of emotion in social change through various mediums and performances.
