Sophie Calle: À toi de faire, ma mignonne

Sophie Calle commemorates the 50th anniversary of Picasso's death with a distinctive exhibition. She delves into her key themes, like blindness and death, using archives and writings as her creative foundations.

Musée National Picasso, 5 Rue de Thorigny

Sophie Calle‘s exhibition creatively connects her work with Picasso‘s legacy in a meticulously curated journey.

Divided into four thematic sections, it explores sight, disappearance and the artistic process.

Calle opens the dialogue with the audience through personal anecdotes, some rooted in her childhood, and visual elements.
She explores the theme of sight, influenced by Picasso‘s own fear of losing his vision. Calle skillfully assembles a collection of objects, photographs, and videos that explore the gaze – closed, unseen and private. Her works are profoundly contemplative, offering the audience a chance to delve into the intimate and complex world of perception, offering a glimpse into her personal universe, punctuated with works exploring the theme of disappearance.

Alongside these completed works, Calle showcases her unfinished projects – a rare sight into her artistic process, her sketches, her works in progress and works left in limbo. The exhibition culminates with Calle setting up her office on the upper floor, inviting viewers to witness her creative workspace throughout the exhibition.

Through her unique storytelling and thoughtful curation, she invites us to delve into the layers of meaning and emotion woven into her work, creating a captivating and immersive experience.
