Ali Cherri: Today is Okay
The exhibition presents La Sentinelle, a new film by French-Lebanese artist Ali Cherri, alongside a new installation. Set during France’s national holiday, the film follows Lafleur, a French soldier whose sense of duty weighs silently upon him. Moving between nocturnal escapades and fleeting encounters, including with a cabaret performer, the protagonist drifts between dream and reality, caught between destiny and self-abandon. The film stages the vestiges of a bygone era within a setting where words resonate as empty echoes. Through this suspended narrative, the exhibition reflects on the effects of war on individuals and on their imaginaries. Presented in a new exhibition format, the film and installation create an immersive environment in which historical narratives, personal experience and collective memory intersect.
