Barouh’s work is deeply connected to her personal history and to a desire guided as much by intuition as by necessity—to engage with cultures to which she feels simultaneously close and distant. Coming from a multicultural and binational background, she quickly recognised a drive to shape herself through discovery, but also through encounters with diverse cultural practices in the public sphere, often by chance, spontaneously creating new “families” for herself.
