Annika Elisabeth von Hausswolff: A Song for Europe
Annika Elisabeth von Hausswolff is a Swedish artist renowed for her intensely powerful photographic and conceptual work, which helped define a new generation of photo-based artists in the Scandinavian context. She presents new works to coincide with her solo exhibition at Andréhn-Schiptjenko. Known for her meticulously composed images, often taking a documentary approach, she develops a compelling practice that addresses the body, violence, perception and representation, frequently charged with deep psychological tension. Her work has been the subject of numerous institutional exhibitions, including representing Sweden at the Venice Biennale, as well as retrospectives at Magasin III, Stockholm; the Hasselblad Foundation, Gothenburg; and Moderna Museet, Stockholm and Malmö.
