Ao Jing

Ao Jing is an artist whose practice operates beyond conventional frameworks. Instead, she works with materials such as iron sheets, wood, leather, plaster, fragments and other elements commonly regarded as discarded.

Yet her process is not simply one of reconstructing or recontextualising found objects. Her practice reflects a return to qualities of lightness, freedom, contradiction and simplicity. She allows the sounds generated through the collision and interaction of materials to emerge as part of the work, while embracing the processes of natural decay, transformation and change that unfold over time.
