Art Emergence
Artagon, in association with the Ministry of Culture, the City of Paris, the Île-de-France Region and the Seine-Saint-Denis Council, inaugurates “Art Emergence”, a new recurring platform devoted to young contemporary creation. Taking place from 18 September to 2 November 2025, the first edition establishes a multi-layered event designed to reveal new generations of artists and art professionals while highlighting the exceptional network of production and exhibition spaces across the Paris region.
The programme unfolds through three main strands. At its core is a major exhibition featuring graduation projects by around fifty emerging artists, each representing a public art or design school in France. Presented simultaneously at the reserves of Frac Île-de-France and the Chaufferie of Fondation Fiminco in Romainville, the exhibition will be curated by a team of young curators selected through open call, in dialogue with established artists. By offering a panoramic view of practices from across the country, this section foregrounds the vitality and diversity of a generation just entering the professional art scene.
Alongside, a festival at the Maison des Métallos in Paris will run from 25 to 27 October 2025, bringing together performances, concerts, readings and debates of ideas. Conceived as a celebratory gathering point, it provides an opportunity for artists, audiences and cultural actors to engage directly with live practices and urgent questions shaping contemporary culture.
The third component consists of three weekends of open studio visits across Paris and Seine-Saint-Denis, designed as geographic itineraries that showcase dozens of collective spaces. These visits underline the density and dynamism of emerging art production sites, offering direct encounters with artists in the very spaces where their work is conceived.
Building on Artagon’s history of supporting young practitioners since 2015, “Art Emergence” aspires to become a new fixture in the French art calendar: a moment of visibility, exchange and discovery for a generation in transition, and a celebration of the role of emerging creation within today’s cultural landscape.
