Art Moderne

Artists: Marc Chagall, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Francis Picabia, Paul Cézanne, Edouard Manet, Rembrandt Bugatti, Max Ernst, Léonard Tsuhugaru Foujita, Henri Matisse and more.

The Art Moderne sale will feature works by Marc Chagall, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Francis Picabia, Édouard Manet, Paul Cézanne, and Henri Matisse, drawn from several prestigious private collections. Among the highlights is “Fillette au perroquet” by Paul Cézanne, recently rediscovered at the Musée Granet in Aix-en-Provence. Painted in 1860, it is one of the very few early canvases that foreshadow the artist’s future oeuvre.

Also of note is “Portrait d’Ambroise Adam” by Édouard Manet — the first portrait he painted en plein air. This pivotal work marks a turning point in Manet’s career, as he broke away from academic tradition to forge a new aesthetic rooted in direct experience and realism.

Finally, the sale will include a remarkable group of ten sculptures by Rembrandt Bugatti. Assembled over the past fifteen years by a French collector, the ensemble offers a chronological journey through the artist’s development and presents a near-monographic vision of his work.
