Avant-Garde(s) Including Thinking Italian
In October, coinciding with the third edition of the modern and contemporary art fair, Art Basel Paris, Christie’s will present a series of sales and events devoted to modern and contemporary art, as part of the week’s agenda of unmissable events.
Following on from last year’s success, Christie’s will be presenting two 20/21 century art auctions, “Avant-Garde(s) including Thinking Italian” and “20/21 Century Art – Day Sale” and an online sale “Marc Chagall: Between Sky and Earth. Works formerly in the artist’s estate”, paying tribute to the great figures who shaped the art of the 20th and 21st centuries with a selection of artworks from rare and prestigious origins.
Leading the auction is a remarkable painting by Zao Wu-Ki. The sale will also showcase major works by renowned artists such as Joan Mitchell, Alberto Giacometti, Francis Picabia, Simon Hantaï, Paul Sérusier, Émile Bernard, and François-Xavier Lalanne. Notably, the third edition of the Thinking Italian section in Paris will focus on significant 20th-century Italian art, featuring works by Domenico Gnoli, Piero Manzoni, Lucio Fontana, and a major Arte Povera collection.
