Bob Smith: From Space Countries Have No Borders
Bob Smith (1944-1990) remains a lesser-known yet pivotal figure in the New York art scene of the 70s and 80s. Known for his travels, Smith’s artistic practice was deeply influenced by his experiences across Europe, including Madrid and Morocco, where he honed his skills in wood and silver inlay. His work, which includes paintings, drawings, and “walled constructions,” reflects a profound connection with the landscapes and people he encountered. “From Space Countries Have no Borders” delves into Smith’s explorations of political and imaginative realms, highlighting his unique approach to art. This exhibition, organized with The Estate of Bob Smith and Martos Gallery, celebrates his distinctive vision.
